First Kiss
University of Minnesota variety (MN55) - a cross of Honeycrisp and MonArk. This extremely crisp apple kicks off our season with lightly tart, aromatic flavor and explosive juiciness. The delicate flesh is too tender for baking but perfect for fresh eating.
Zestar!
University of Minnesota variety (Minnewashta) with distinctive sweet-tart flavor featuring brown sugar and spice undertones. Unlike other early apples, maintains exceptional crispness and juiciness. Excellent for sauces requiring less added sugar.
Chestnut Crabapple
University of Minnesota variety (1946) with rich, complex nutty flavor and no tartness - unusual for crabapples. Large for a crabapple at 2-inch diameter, with sweet complexity including hints of pear, honey, orange, and vanilla.
SweeTango®
University of Minnesota variety - cross of Honeycrisp and Zestar! with high sweetness (14.8 Brix). Combines Honeycrisp crispness with distinctive fall spices flavor profile including cinnamon, nutmeg, honey, and citrus notes.

Honey Crisp
Minnesota's State Fruit! University of Minnesota variety with larger cells creating 'explosive crispiness' and juice-bursting texture like 'apple shrapnel.' Honey-sweet with subtle tartness, revolutionized the apple industry with focus on taste over yield.
Honeygold
University of Minnesota variety (1969) - cross of Golden Delicious and Haralson. Similar to Golden Delicious but sweeter, crisper, and developed for cold climates. Golden-yellow skin with excellent keeping quality.
Haralson
Minnesota heritage variety (1922) named after Charles Haralson. The ultimate baking apple with complex tart flavor that becomes sweet after frost exposure. Holds shape perfectly in baking - Minnesota's #1 apple for over 50 years.
SnowSweet
University of Minnesota variety (2006) - cross of Sharon and Connell Red. Sweet with rich overtones and unique slow-to-brown flesh that stays white when cut. Perfect for advance prep of salads and snack trays. U-pick favorite!
Fireside
University of Minnesota variety (1943) - cross of McIntosh and Longfield. Very large to huge fruit with sweet, mild flavor that intensifies after first frost. Beautiful scarlet blush coloring makes it as attractive as it is delicious.
Cortland
Cross variety known for developing purple-maroon skin in cool autumn conditions. Creates distinctive pink applesauce due to skin pigments. Fine-textured flesh that doesn't brown quickly when cut - best used soon after harvest.
Evercrisp
Midwest Apple Improvement Association variety (MAIA-1) - cross of Honeycrisp and Fuji with extremely dense, firm texture. Requires 2-3 months cold storage to develop peak sweetness and flavor. Very sweet with honey and citrus hints - may require slicing due to dense texture.

What Our Visitors Say
Real experiences from farm friends
Among other variety of apples, I was happy to find the Zestar again. Just perfect for my preference of slightly tart, but with good sweetness. We also got honey and fresh eggs there. The staff is very helpful and informative.
Family owned; friendly, knowledgeable, and fun! It is just the right size for all from 1-100. Apples, pumpkins, squash, eggs, meat, desserts, ice cream and of course, apple cider donuts. A field of sunflowers, a patch of zinnias, large cut-outs, an apple cannon...there is something for everyone and Instagram ready for all your photos.
Date night at Brand Farms was a fun event. Farmer Aaron is a great host. I would highly recommend you take your kids before they close for the season. Lots of activities, yummy apple products and treats too!
