Brand Farms Eggs
At Brand Farms we raise Leghorn and Rhode Island Red, and Goldstar laying hens. You'll find us selling our farm fresh products at local Farmer's Markets and the Retail Barn at the orchard. Come see us! Come find us at any of the locations to the left!
At Brand Farms you have a choice between white and the ever popular brown eggs. The color of the shell has no connection to the quality of the contents. That all goes back to what the chickens eat!
We're currently raising 400 laying hens which are housed in three different barns. They are free roaming and cage free. The hens are free to run loose around the hen house.
The hens are provided with fresh water, fresh air and fresh feed daily. Eggs are picked, hand-handwashed, and boxed twice daily.
Laying Hen Facts
The Leghorn: Leghorns are excellent layers of white eggs. Leghorns are noisy birds, and somewhat smaller than other breeds. They produce the majority of the world's crop of large white eggs and is possibly the most important commercial egg producing breed in the world (certainly in America).
The Rhode Island Red: No other heavy breed lays more or better eggs than the Rhode Island Red. This hen is raised for meat and eggs, and also as a show bird. Believe it or not, it is the state bird of Rhode Island!
The Goldstar: The Goldstar is an excellent brown egg laying hen. A mature bird is red feathered with some white showing in the tail. Especially docile.
